In most countries around the world, the first forty days following birth are a time dedicated to the mother's recovery and bonding with the new baby.
In many countries, the mother is waited on hand and foot, is massaged, is encouraged to stay in bed, is comforted and supported.
In the UK, we are encouraged to 'get back to normal' as soon as possible.
But the new 'normal' is so unknown and there is so much physical and emotional healing that might need to take place.
I have two treatments that can support you during your post-natal period, and beyond.
Closing the Bones
To aid emotional and physical recovery following birth, the Closing the Bones ceremony uses traditional methods from Equador to sift your pelvis and gently massage your lower abdominal area.
This treatment isn't just a massage, it's a ritual to honour the amazing role your body has played in growing and birthing your baby, no matter how or when.
We will spend around 90mins creating a beautiful, safe space for you to receive a nurturing lower abdominal massage, aimed at bringing energy and power back to your inner core. Essential oils and music can be tailored to your preferences.
The gentle massage works on your pelvis and hips to realign and soften.
We will use traditional Ecuadorean rebozo scarves to sift and rock, and enclose your hips in a secure, comforting wrap.
You will receive reiki energy throughout the treatment, to bring added positivity and healing.
We are one of few countries around the world who has forgotten the process of nurturing and caring for mothers, especially in the first few weeks. Many women around the world are used to receiving massages after birth.
But this is not just for the immediate postnatal period. No matter how long ago you gave birth, this treatment has the potential to bring strength, release and physical healing.
This treatment is £75.
Rewind & Recover
For some mums, birth can be traumatic and difficult to get past. It might be that you still feel distressed by the thoughts, or perhaps you avoid all mention of the event.
If you would like to neutralise these feelings, enabling you to move on, the 3 Step Rewind Technique can help you to do that. To find out more, get in touch and we can talk through your options.
